Last chance for Poll of Polls

A reminder that we will be closing the Poll of Polls tomorrow (Sunday) so you need to get your votes in now. Michael Chabon appears to have a commanding lead, which will doubtless surprise no one, but there is an interesting contest for second place.

Oops, No Award…

We’ve been reminded that we forgot to give a “No Award” option on the Poll of Polls. That is now fixed. If anyone who has already voted would like to change their vote to No Award, please email us. Also we fixed the typo in Terry Pratchett’s name. Thanks Jason and Steven.

2009 Poll of Polls

It is that time of year again. The SFAW Poll of Polls is now open. As with last year we have pitted the top award winners of the year against each other, and you get to decide who wins. The poll will remain open until Thanksgiving. There are a couple of interesting aspects to this [...]

Looking Forward

We will keep the WFA results poll open until the weekend, but after that it will be time for our Annual Poll of Polls (which will have rather fewer options in it this year thanks to Mr. Chabon scooping so many gongs). The result of that will be announced over Thanksgiving weekend. After that, it [...]

Poll of Polls Result

Well, that was that. And the winner, by just one vote, is Nova Swing by M. John Harrison. To be honest, we wouldn’t put a lot of store by a one-vote win. Clearly Harrison’s book is very popular. So is Vernor Vinge’s Rainbows End. But Internet polls are not very secure and it is entirely [...]

Last Chance to Vote

The Poll of Polls will be closing at 10:00pm PST tomorrow (Sunday). You have less than a day to vote if you have not already done so. Rainbows End currently holds a slender 1 vote lead.

Still Neck and Neck

The Poll voting is still tied between Rainbows End and Nova Swing. Votes are still coming in. With such a small number of votes you have to worry that the results are not valid because it is possible to vote twice if you are determined enough. But we do get some data on where people [...]

A Close Race

Both of us are still very busy here, but we are keeping an eye on the poll. It looks like it is a very close race. Vernor Vinge’s Rainbows End currently has a narrow lead, which is understandable because the book is the only one that has won two of the top awards, but it [...]

All Quiet

It is very quiet here because both of your editors are involved in panic projects at their respective workplaces. But it is also quiet on the poll. We’d like a lot more votes than we have right now. Please spread the word.

Poll of Polls Open

The SFAW Poll of Polls is now open. The idea here is that you get to vote as to which of the various “best novel” winners from the major genre awards really is the best novel of the year. This is going to be an annual event, and we’d like to get a lot of [...]

We’ll be keeping the WFA poll open for a few more days because we’ve had a very small number of votes (a lot less than for the Hugos – your votes would be appreciated). However, at the weekend we’ll be closing it down and opening a new poll. This will be for our very own [...]
