WFA Judges for 2009
November 6th, 2008 by Editors
Via Russell Blackford, we understand that the judges for the 2009 World Fantasy Awards will be: Ellen Klages, Delia Sherman, Chris Roberson, Peter Heck and Jenny Blackford.
We note that there are three women on the 5-person panel.

It’s good that you are taking notice of this kind of thing—although that it needs to be pointed out in 2008 seems weird and sad. Also, this comes after two years of all-male juries (including myself).
Well if you’re counting, three of five Clarke Award judges were women last year, and (a different) three of five are women this year.
The Endeavour Award has 1 woman out of 3 judges this year, which is dead average over its 10-year history, though it has varied from zero (most recently last year) to 2 (most recently the year before that).
In the past 9 years, there have been 25 out of 46 books nominated which were by women, although the readers picking the nominees may have a different gender balance than the judges. OTOH, 6 out of 11 winning books have been by women (there were ties in 2001 and 2003).
