Galaxy Awards
March 27th, 2009 by Editors
One of the biggest science fiction markets in the world is China. We don’t get to hear much about their local writers, but they are apparently very well up on Western SF. The results of this year’s Galaxy Awards will be published in Science Fiction World in mid-May. In the meantime here are the finalists in the Most Popular Foreign Author category:
- George R.R. Martin (USA)
- David Brin (USA)
- Nancy Kress (USA)
- Ursula Le Guin (USA)
- Neil Gaiman (UK)
- John Scalzi (USA)
- Garth Nix (Australia)
- Mike Resnick (USA)
- Harry Harrison
- Vernor Vinge (USA)
- Yasumi Kobayashi (Japan)

How is that ordered?
Which is to say: those are clearly not sorted alphabetically.
It’s ordered in the way that they sent us the list.
This award news does not mean much except that it tells you which western SF authors are getting translated into Chinese and published.
There will probably not be one single winner. (The Galaxies tend to allow multiple wins – its a little different from awards as we know them in the west.)
