At World Fantasy last night Ann and Jeff VanderMeer presented the first ever Last Drink Bird Head Awards, which Jeff explains here. We did live coverage of the ceremony over at ConReporter.com. The winners were:

  • Promotion of Reading: Susan Straub
  • Expanding Our Vocabulary: John Clute
  • International Activism: Charles Tan
  • Special Achievement Award: Neil Clarke

    Here’s to Ann and Jeff VanderMeer’s amazing generosity. How lucky can one girl be to be given this open hearted accolade. Thank you thank you thank you.
    Although I work with babies from zero to 2 or 3, some of them will become real readers and have the imagination to enjoy the kinds of books we all know and love.
