New Award Launched at World Fantasy

One of the things that became embarrassingly obvious to us in running this web site is that many countries around the world have awards for SF&F fiction translated into their local language, but there was no award for such works translated into English. That has now changed. At World Fantasy today a new award was launched to fill that gap. Your editors (Cheryl & Kevin) have been closely involved in making this happen. Neat idea.
I am reminded that the 1973 English language edition of Stanislaw Lem’s The Invincible was translated by Wendayne Ackerman from the 1967 German edition. Why yes, Lem wrote in Polish.
