Coming Up This Weekend
September 18th, 2007 by Editors
Things may go a little quiet for a few days, especially over the weekend. Kevin is on his way home from Japan, and Cheryl is off to Copenhagen for the Eurocon.
However, interesting things will be happening over the weekend. Eurocon has its own, rather unique awards (see here for details). We may report on them live-ish, depending on wi-fi availability.
In addition, FantasyCon is taking place at the weekend. The British Fantasy Awards will be presented. The list of nominees is available here. Much as we love John Picacio, it would be rather amusing to see Best Artist finish as a tie between Les Edwards and Edward Miller. It is unlikely that we’ll be first with the results of these. Given that Ariel and Sandy are likely to be at FantasyCon, we suspect you’ll be able to get the results quickly here.

I love John Picacio too, but I’d like to see that tie happen and then see Les and Ed kick each other’s ass in front of a live audience. Winner gets the hardware.
Re: Results – I’ll do m’best, but it might all depend on whether the hotel has a terminal in the lobby yet, or whether there’s a t’Internet café within yomping distance. Might have to wait until we’ve made the trip back up the M1/M62…
Re: Les / Edward – Don’t get me started on the whole split ballot thing… complete feck-up there this year…
I find myself drifting into Ask Bearders mode. It is quite common for someone to be nominated more than once in a “work” type award, though I can’t remember it happening under two different names. But for someone to be nominated twice for a person award under different names, surely that’s some sort of record?
Oh, and in case anyone is still confused, not to mention to introduce you to some very fine art, here are the web sites of Led Edwards and Edward Miller.
Hi. I am a Canadian writer with a BA in English from The University Of British Columbia and I was wondering if any BFS members would consider reading my Fantasy/Science Fiction collection “PARANOID LOST” or my children’s Fantasy novella “THE GOLDEN SANDALS”. Both were published in 2008 by the British Publishers, CHIPMUNKA
PUBLISHING. I was hoping you might want to read these very unique stories for possible nomination for the BFS AWARDS. I would
be grateful if anyone would give them a chance. -Greg Bauder
