Mythopoeic Awards Nominees

Catherynne M Valente has announced that her The Orphans Tales books have been nominated for a Mythopoeic Award. We’ve not seen a full list yet, but we’ll bring it to you as soon as we do.

    The Mythopoeic Society still sends out press releases listing the award nominees. I used to get them when I was a Steward of the Society (equivelent to director). I’ve never been a nominee, so I don’t know what the notification says about individuals publicizing that before the official announcement. (I doubt there will be a controversy, and I don’t plan to start one.)

    I’m sure Cat wouldn’t have announced it if she’d been asked not to. But sometimes administrators forget to include the “under embargo” notice, sometimes award web sites are late putting up announcements, and sometimes we don’t get the press release. So we just go with what we can get.
