Method
A jury appointed by the Tiptree Council. The Tiptree does not pre-announce long lists and short lists. Instead the jury assembles these lists as it deliberates, and then publishes them along with the name of the winner.
Eligibility
Any work of science fiction or fantasy that expands or explores our understanding of gender.

Work
Winner receives
A work of art (different each year), $1000, some chocolates, and the right to wear the fabulous Tiptree tiara.
Submissions method
Anyone may recommend works to the jury via the award web site.
